To make the honeycombs of the hive, bees produce beeswax. The wax is secreted by the wax glands of the worker bees, from the 12th to the 18th day of their life. As soon as a wafer of wax is secreted, the bee picks it up, mixes it and assembles it with other wafers to produce honeycombs. Beeswax is a very complex mixture of organic compounds in which more than three hundred natural constituents have been identified.
Uses and virtues
The uses of beeswax are very variable. In cosmetics, it stabilizes the emulsion of a mixture. It also softens, smoothes and moisturizes the skin by acting as a protective film when applied. In addition to helping to heal wounds, it can act as an anti-inflammatory.
The better the quality of the beeswax, the higher the quality of the final product will be.
